The beauty of gemstones comes to them not only from the material, but from the way they are cut and the quality of that work. A diamond with a bad cut does not make maximum use of their brilliance, what will erode their price. Therefore, the lapidary (stone cutters) have in their hands a great responsibility that artists such as Munsteiner have managed to transform into a compliment to the profession.

Carved stone pendant

Bernd, Jutta and Tom Munsteiner work in their studio with one aim: to discover the soul of every stone and display it in its purest form. Bernd, the oldest (1943), has over forty years as lapidary small and large format. Born near Idar-Oberstein (birthplace of German industry of precious stones) and in 1960 already had the necessary knowledge to start developing his career. Nine years later he won the first of many awards and recognitions he owns. He has written a magnificent book on the study of light reflection and the importance of this when cutting stones.

Jutta, born in 1968, is the jewelry maker in the study Munsteiner. With her global vision, Jutta integrates the precious stones in rings, pendants ... with the difficult task of creating original jewelry that does not downplay the stone, but rather enhance it.

To define Tom Munsteiner (1969), the third in the group, no other word better than "architect". Because that is what he makes, small architectural works with precious materials. Analyzes and cuts stones using all their qualities without forgetting the physical laws involved, as their own light, a key element when it comes to polish a stone, or rather, that it emanates properly once received from the exterior.
