One of the greatest problems of design in general is its dissemination and lack of specialized sites where you can buy designer goods at affordable prices. However, in Oviedo (Asturias), there is one of such places, El Vestidor de Lola, a cozy corner where there is no place for the usual, only unique products and handmade original. In "El Vestidor de Lola" you can appreciate the care and dedication put by the creatives (and creators) in their crafts, so on this store you can find unique accessories, handmade with an unusual beauty. Vanessa and Charo, business managers, face this great project based on offering a different product type, for an audience tired of the impersonality of manufactured accessories. They themselves tell us their experience, and we wish them great success in his career because it opens many doors for designers, the public and the industry itself. With its boldly they will go far. "We are two Asturian sisters (Vanessa and Charo Alonso Pardo), a year ago we embarked on this small / large project called "El Vestidor de Lola" (Lola is the name of our mother), a cozy little shop that we wanted to give a different air.
We love the Twenties style and everything that has to do with Romantic Paris... so you can always find accessories on that style, cause we ask to customize exclusive collections for our shop only (sorry but we are very romantic). We also have a tiny corner of Vintage pieces which are a real beauty. Apart from the clothes you can find handmade pieces such as brooches, earrings, necklaces, rings, tiaras, headpieces, hairpins, handbags, wallets .. and even some old piece of decoration that sells ... A few days ago we created a small line for babies with pieces that are a delight. We are looking for designers through fairs such as that performed in the Labor Labshop Gijón, Gijón Alterna. This last issue have been in the Nomad Market in Madrid to greet people we work with (because email is always very cold) and meet more designers to incorporate their stuff in our stores. Many designers also go to the store to show their creations, our mail is a "non stop" and do not give a coarse to answer the people who comes in contact with us (we can not answer everybody). But the truth is where more time we spend is online, every day we look through different pages, that highlight different designers work, new things, new people always striving to introduce to our customers unique pieces, original and different. Keeping up with the internet and social networks is critical to our business, to be aware of the latest creations and tendencies. As a result we have become known outside Oviedo, has come to buy people from Aviles, Gijon, La Felguera, Mieres ... Also thanks to the Internet world can perform many online sales. The shop has been well accepted, because here in Oviedo, unless the big chain stores, there is no moving with New Designers. People love the handmade stuff, the style of clothes we have and what they like is that we work with very small and exclusive collections which do not repeat, so we are constantly adding new things." "We love to change the shopwindows, and each change is a new theme, to be a showcase not boring, but something that looks like something fun and lively, with dynamism. Both my sister and I consider it a privilege, because we love our work, meet new people, learn things they do, to go to fairs, travel ... Such an Adventure!!! Although the economic situation is something turbulent, we must agree that we are very happy, we put passion to our little dressing room and we managed to work with a different concept of fashion. We are a little bit sad, because in Asturias young independent designers are not promoted as much as they should. They will always be in a corner in our Dressing. For that reason, and always with the intention of keeping alive the business, soon we will begin with presentations "live" in our own shop, with new collections that we incorporate, to which may attend both clients and designers who feel like sharing one afternoon, accompanied by good music, some snacks and mostly surrounded by an atmosphere of exclusive pieces."
